GENERAL FAQs

Q: What are the dates of the 18th Annual Sickle Cell Disease Research & Educational Symposium and 47th National Sickle Cell Disease Scientific Meeting?
A:
The dates for the meeting are June 7 - 9, 2024 with the Grant Writing Institue Workshop being held on June 6.

Q: How do I get a copy of the presentation slides?
A:
Presentation slides will be available in the mobile app and website. Slide access will align with the registration type.

CME

Q: Will the meeting offer CME?
A:
FSCDR 2024 will offer CME for educational sessions for both in-person and virtual attendees. On-Demand Videos are not available to claim credit.
All credit must be claimed by July 1, 2024. For more details, click here.

Q: How do I claim CME credits?
A:
Claiming CME at FSCDR 2024 is done in just 3 steps!
  1. RECORD the unique CE code announced and displayed at the end of each session.
  2. EVALUATE each session you attended through the “CME Credits” button at the bottom of the app or on the meeting website. The unique CE code you recorded unlocks the session survey.
  3. DOWNLOAD and print your certificate after you’ve evaluated your sessions and taken the general conference evaluation.
  4. EVALUATIONS must be completed by July 1, 2024, in order to earn credit. 
Q: Does Virtual Attendance earn CME?
A: Yes - you follow the same steps as in-person attendees to claim credit.

Q: Can I watch videos on demand for credit?
A: No - you must participate during the live activity, in-person or virtual, or record the CE code and claim credit.

Q: Is CME available for case workers or only medical professionals?
A:

GOING TO FT. LAUDERDALE

Q: Where will the events take place if I’m attending in-person?
A:
All events will be held at the Broward County Convention Center (1950 Eisenhower Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316). Directions and parking information can be found here.

Q: I have already registered and paid for the in-person meeting, but I can no longer attend. What are my options?
A:
Cancellation requests must be provided in writing to frscdrreg@discoversb.com. Please note that all refunds will be issued in the same format as payment was received if approved. A $75 non-refundable processing fee will be deducted from the refund. All cancellations will be processed, and refunds distributed within 30 days of the close of the conference.  The following cancellation request deadlines apply:


Q: Is the app really that important for this meeting?
A:
Yes, it’s an essential onsite tool! Besides a simple pocket guide for the event, it’s the only comprehensive and up-to-date listing of events happening at FSCDR 2024.
In the app you can: Your login credentials were emailed to the email you registered with. If you didn’t receive the email, just click “Forgot Registrant ID?” on the website or app login screen to retrieve it.

Q: How will I be able to ask the presenter questions at the meeting?
A:
In-person attendees will be using the FSCDR app to submit their questions for General Session presenters in the app. Breakout sessions will be done via aisle mic.

Q: Are children allowed at the meeting?
A:
Due to the professional nature of this conference, children under the age of 18 are not permitted in the educational sessions or the Exhibit Hall; unless prior arrangements have been made through FSCDR.

Q: Is there a shuttle provided between the Marriott and the Convention Center?
A: 
A complimentary shuttle will be available during select times, Friday – Sunday, for FSCDR guests staying at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa. This shuttle will be on continuous loop between the Broward County Convention Center and the Marriott Harbor Beach. Shuttle Times can be found below.

*Please note times are subject to change. As there is only one shuttle, waiting times may exceed 20 minutes. Please prepare for unexpected delays due to traffic or the causeway bridge rising.

Shuttle Stop Locations:

Marriott Harbor Beach: Located on the Lobby Level Convention Entrance, outside of the Caribbean Ballroom

Broward County Convention Center: 1st Floor, outside of Exhibit Hall B


Shuttle service is not available for guests staying at the Holiday Inn Express. It is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Holiday Inn Express to the Broward County Convention Center.

ON-DEMAND SESSION RECORDING

Q: Will the sessions from the meeting be available for viewing on an on-demand basis after the meeting dates conclude?
A:
Yes, the educational sessions (except for most exhibitor education) will be available for on-demand viewing after the meeting concludes by no later than July 2. Attendees will be notified via email once the recordings are available. Breakout sessions will be slides and audio only; general sessions will be a video of the presenter with slides and audio. Recording access will align with the registration type.

Q. How do I access the FSCDR 2024 On-Demand Content?

All registered attendees will receive an email once on-demand content is available by July 2. Once you receive your unique Registrant ID, log in HERE.

Q. What Internet browser should I use to access the Event Platform?
A.
Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox is the preferred internet browser.
The platform does not recommend accessing the conference while on your VPN. You may need to reach out to your IT administrator to surpass the firewall.

Q. Can I use my computer or my mobile device to connect?
A.
You can use either your computer or your mobile device to connect to the Meeting.

Q. Will a call-in number be available to listen to the sessions?
A.
No, all audio will require computer speakers.

Q. How can I test my device before watching on-demand sessions?
A.
Testing your device is a great way to ensure you are ready on June 7! The platform provides a System Check tool that runs a series of checks on your computer and web browsers to ensure that your device is suitable to use the full potential of the platform. If there are any problems then you will see either yellow warnings (things that can be improved) or red warnings (things that may limit your experience). Your organization's IT support team may be able to help you resolve any of these that are beyond your capabilities. Run your System Check now!
