Dr. Ram Prakash Thirugnanasambandam is a Medical School graduate of Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute in Chennai, India. This summer, he will graduate from a residency in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Thirugnanasambandam has a deep-rooted passion for Hematology-Oncology and plans to undertake fellowship training.
During his time in medical school, Dr. Thirugnanasambandam volunteered with a foundation by medical students for Hematology-Oncology in Pediatrics (MEDHOPE), a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting underprivileged children battling cancer. This experience ignited his interest in Hematology-Oncology and instilled in him a strong commitment to providing compassionate care to those in need. During his Internal Medicine residency, Ram has provided care for many sickle cell patients and has undertaken several research projects on this inherited blood disorder.
Driven by a fervor for research, Dr. Thirugnanasambandam believes in the importance of academic contributions to advance evidence-based medicine. With a vision to contribute to the field of Hematology-Oncology, he aspires to become an academic Hematologist-Oncologist. His goal is to deliver holistic, compassionate, and evidence-based care to patients, thereby making a meaningful impact on the field of medicine.
