My name is Brenda Merriweather, DNP, RN. In 2023, I completed my Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Walden University. I am trained as a Clinical Nurse Specialist from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In 2010, I developed a case management and disease treatment model for Adult Sickle Cell patients called the Past (Proactive and Aggressive Sickle Cell Disease Treatment) Model for the Baptist Health System in Montgomery, Alabama. In 2013, I utilized aspects of the PAST model at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Less than three years later, I was awarded The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In 2018, I utilized aspects of the PAST model at Johns Hopkins Health System.
