Dr. Catherine Segbefia obtained a Fellowship in Paediatric Haematology/Oncology with sub-specialty certification in pediatric haemoglobinopathies, hemostasis, and thrombosis from The Hospital for Sick Children/University of Toronto, Canada. She is a senior lecturer at the Department of Child Health, University of Ghana Medical School, and heads the pediatric hematology and sickle cell clinics, Department of Child Health, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra, the largest hospital in Ghana. She is the Executive Lead for the newborn screening program for sickle cell disease in Korle Bu Hospital. Her research interests include early diagnosis of sickle cell disease, supportive care, and stroke prevention.
