Lori E. Crosby, PsyD, is a Tenured Professor in the Division of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) and Department of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Crosby is also Director of the Cincinnati Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CTSA), Community Engagement Core, INNOVATIONS in Community Research and Program Evaluation, and directs a research program in pediatric sickle cell disease. Dr. Crosby is elected Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA) and has expertise in self-management, treatment adherence, healthcare transition, recruitment and retention, implementation science, and integrating design thinking into research. She has been a Co-Investigator or Consultant on more than 20 federally-funded grants including a K07 from NHLBI to develop patient-provider tools to enhance the transition to adult care for young adults with SCD, and an R21 from NICHD to pilot a self-management intervention for adolescents with sickle cell disease. Currently, Dr. Crosby is a site PI for a PCORI award comparing interventions to improve transition in SCD and the PI for PCORI award comparing dissemination methods for a hydroxyurea shared decision-making intervention. Relevant to today's presentation, Dr. Crosby was a co-investigator on a study examining patient perceptions of gene transfer therapy for sickle cell disease.
